Found some left-over Yoast SEO tables in my database that I decided to try and use a plugin to remove since I didn’t trust myself to mess around with the database manually.
However when activating this plugin, I was immediately greeted with the white screen of death and text saying «The Site Is Experiencing Technical Difficulties».
Backspaced and deactivated the plugin which fixed the site, but nothing was changed in regards to Yoast’s droppings in the database so it [the plugin] crashed itself and my site before getting to even start.
I had installed Yoast SEO and inadvertently selected the wrong website when it came to the Google Authorization. It pulled in crawl errors from another site and I figured I would do a complete uninstall and start over. No joy. Crawl errors kept showing up.
Could not «Mark as fixed» either.
This is under SEO > Search Console > Desktop. Have 11 Soft 404 errors listed there from a different website.
This plugin got rid of Yoast SEO Plugin (WordPress SEO).
Before using this, I had deactivated Yoast, and reactivated All in One SEO Pack (my previous SEO plugin) but couldn’t get the Social Meta Tags to generate again (e.g. facebook, twitter, etc) and my best guess was that Yoast broke my old seo.
After running this plugin’s cleanup process my social meta tags were restored. I haven’t check if it deleted Yoast’s db tables thought.
After uninstalling Yoast you’ll find that Yoast does not clean up properly. This plugin does that for you. Instead of searching trough your database to remove the stuff that Yoast leaves behind, just click the button and it’s gone. It even de-activates itself after use.
Maybe it was me, but I couldn’t get Yoast to deactivate, let alone uninstall. This plugin did the trick. After installing this plugin, it deactivated Yoast, allowing me to delete Yoast and its data. This plugin deactivated itself after deactivating Yoast. Then, I deleted Yoast and deleted this plugin. Flawless – Highly recommend if you have trouble deleting Yoast.
